Dubuque Holds Narrow Win Over Central In Invitational
The Dubuque Spartans edged Central 60% to 48% after a day of highly competitive events. Five meet records were set as six colleges produced standout performances led by Dubuque’s Turner and Hiemstra, with Simpson and Parsons close behind. Iowa Wesleyan nabbed five points. Penn scored none. Meet plans for a four-team dual were altered as Iowa Wesleyan leaves track for the season.

Goose flight report shapes central Iowa refuge plan
Game managers describe a good goose flight in central and eastern Iowa last fall. A 200 bird call flock will help attract birds while marsh areas are planted with winter wheat to create green crops. The marsh will partly become a waterfowl refuge and the project aims to stopover and feed geese in fall, not nest. Captive birds have clipped primary wing feathers and will be released after regrowth.
