Central Ray reports a strenuous workday on the tennis courts. Kaldenberg led crews starting at seven despite gloomy weather, moving brickbats mortar and earth. Six wagons and three teams kept up in the afternoon while Vander Kieft feared exhaustion but finished the day strong.
A young boy praises a friend who apologized for a fault and shows how such generosity guides character. An old advertisement extols Hall's Catarrh Medicine, promising internal relief and blood purification with testimonials and a Toledo address for J. Cheney & Co.
The Children's Year campaign urges American mothers to favor breast milk as the best nutrition for infants during the first year. It notes 22 000 babies died in the U S in 1915 from stomach and intestinal diseases and cites studies showing far lower death rates among exclusively breastfed infants.
Sally Prescott watches the night sky at Aunt Polly's farm on November 18, 1833, as meteors shower down in bright trails. The child and Grandfather witness the dazzling display while Sally fears the world may burn. The aunt explains the phenomenon as meteors and the scene closes with dawn revealing hope.
She anxiously awaited the evening and was very happy to find that her old friends, the stars, were all in their accustomed places.
Des Moines Iowa April 17 1918 the Board of Control reports storing forty thousand tons of Iowa Lump Coal at fifteen state institutions for winter 1917 1918. The coal held outdoors without deterioration proving storage fears unfounded. Total use last winter reached one hundred thirty thousand tons with forty thousand stored and ninety thousand received during winter. Several hundred tons remain at Eldora Mitchellville and Knoxville. The board urges early storage to keep Iowa mines running and prevent shortages next winter. By J H Streif.

A Washington note from April 23 1918 describes Pella fellows in the capital praising new Central College facilities a lively Liberty Loan campaign with sightings of Mary Pickford Chaplin and Douglas Fairbanks. The piece recounts a British tank display Italian aviator stunts and a Mt Vernon trip plan as well as baseball chatter and school interests.
Benton County Real Estate Co. advertises diversified farming and stock raising lands in central Minnesota with prices reasonable and easy terms. They offer lands in Northern Minnesota and can furnish any size tract, with locations at 12-19 Sauk Rapids.
Crayfish, often called fresh water lobsters, live mainly underwater along river beds. Some Australian specimens dig burrows in damp soil, with a water filled chamber at the end and a water free tunnel to the heart of the burrow.
