A man identifying himself as Claude E Budd deposited 25 dollars for a car in Grinnell and wrote a 36 dollar check for change. He later attempted to buy two cars with a 100 dollar deposit and asked for change. Bank check drew suspicion and the man was jailed in Ottumwa on embezzlement charges linked to an eight thousand dollar shortage from the Eldon bank.
