Tulip Time Opens With Queen Run In Pella 1939
Fifth Annual Tulip Time in Pella features the 1939 Tulip Queen Bernace Vander Linden and attendants after a March to April campaign. Candidates Mary Jane Baron Melba Hoekstra Janet Klyn Emily Kuyper Delores Lankelma Leona Schilder Margaretta Slobe Othella Van Baalen Martha Van Berkum. Festival runs May 11 12 13 with operetta in gym and Tulip Time edition May 4 1939.

Tulip Time 1939 closes with colorful parade lines
Engagement announced and a milk cart float led by John Vanden Ban depicted a twent y five year old mare. Henry Van Steenwyk presided as chiefs, with American Legion members policing the route. Other entries included a pioneer home, a baby parade by Wilson Jewelry, a Soldier float with John Hackett and Carol Carson, and many more as Tulip Time fifth annual ends.
