Schakel Warehouse Co owned by Reuben Schakel began in South Pella on November 9 1955. Sales then were under $15 and the office space was 10 by 12 feet with lumber piled outside. Today the firm operates a 26 by 80 foot office and ten warehouses on several acres, building portable farm buildings and related items. The trade area extends to New Sharon Oxkaloosa Fremont Eddyville Albia Knoxville Monroe and Sully with three trucks servicing customers.

Sully News notes a son born to Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Baje ma on February 22 at Community hospital Grinnell and a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lanser on February 21 at Skiff Memorial hospital Newton. Grandparents listed for Lanser child are Mr. and Mrs. Rie Lanser of Newton and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Vander Kamp of Sully. Mrs. Clarence Van Kooten family moved to Ken neth Ratelit property recently bought. Clarence returned home Thursday evening and spent the weekend with family before returning to University hospital Iowa City Monday. Mrs. Sam Vander Pol returned Thursday after six weeks in California visiting sons Ward Versteeg Sacramento and Carroll Versteeg Los Angeles. She also visited Florence Vander Pol in Santa Anna.
