Record of Irish Regiments and Boer War Honors
All but two Irish regiments bear on their colors the record South Africa. The Fourth Royal Irish Dragoon Guards alone lacks this and other battle honors because it was created in 1900 by command of Queen Victoria to honor the exploits of other Irish regiments in the Boer War. This distinction was added to the Brigade of Guards for all Irish troops.
