Plant Nursery Stock As Early As Possible
Iowa State College extension horticulturist S W Edgecombe advises early ordering of nursery stock for spring planting. March or early April delivery may be too early, but a normal early spring allows immediate planting. If soil is not ready, trees may be heeled in after opening bundles and storing in a shallow trench.
