L M Van Zante cared for horses since boyhood with a family history spanning over fifty years. He currently owns ten horses including work animals, two colts, a two year old Arabian Belgian cross, and a pure-bred Belgian stallion Irondale Marquis due to turn two on June 25 1939. The nearby area’s horses trace lineage to Ivonnle Fareeur. many local work horses descend from that line. A large turn of horses and mules were judged at yesterday’s show by Harry Lynn with a full recap and photos planned for next week’s Chronicle.

Farmers urged to declare intent for 1939 aid programs
Marion County farmers have received about 240000 dollars in benefit payments for the Agricultural Conservation Program 1988 and about 175000 dollars for 1938 corn loans. About 170 loans are in process and more funds may come. Apply by March 16 to qualify for 57 cents per bushel. Loans on 1938 corn run until March 31 1939.
