It notes petitions for road and bridge work, bonds filed, and contracts for coal supply to jail and courthouse.
The Knoxville Express and the Harvey News quip about spring while a country paper mixes up a subscriber story about a nine pound father and a proud son. The piece lampoons misprints and social gambling temptations framed by old exchanges and local wit.
In Mitchellville Index, Representative Otfil, who steered through a bill banning firecrackers longer than two and a half inches for the Fourth of July, also cast a vote against the Woman Suffrage amendment.
Marion County Iowa board of supervisors met in regular session at court house with R A Pilmer Leopold Luke and Leroy Hunt. Leroy Hunt elected chairman for the year. Minutes of December 1 1905 read and approved. Claims reviewed and allowances made. Refunds granted to Henry Fisk for soldier exemption on assessment 1904. Refunds approved for H J Van Vilet Peter Jansen and J J Sheehy for mulch tax overpayments. Refunds also granted to Walter Jansen Thomas H Williams and M T Paardekooper for mulch tax accrued when saloons opened. Official bond of Sheriff L L Bybee examined and approved. Meeting adjourned until tomorrow.
