Sigourney Man Killed by Fall While Picking Cherries
Pete Small of Sigourney died 24 hours after a fall from a cherry tree at his sister’s home. While on a step ladder he fainted and fell, his heavy build likely twisting the neck. the sole injury noted was a head gash. The incident occurred as he was picking fruit near his residence.

Beaconsman Stanley Catlin Dies in Calf Collision Crash
Stanley M. Catlin of Beacon was killed instantly near White Oak school house east of Oskaloosa when his car struck a calf, then plunged into a ten foot ditch after swerving from a culvert. His wife suffered a broken arm and neck and shoulder bruises, their two year old child bruised on the left cheek. Mrs. Catlin, upon seeing her husband dead, rescued the baby and sought help at a nearby home.
