On June 19, Ralph Grundman near Des Moines showed how a rough pasture was turned into a contour-planted system. Locust trees establish along a draw while a 45 acre slope now grows alfalfa with oats beneath. Waterways are rounded and erosion slowed. future terraces and dam may further control runoff. The old alfalfa stand thrives as oats mature. Sugar Creek valley and surrounding hills overlook the field.

Amsterdam News reports corn and small grain doing fine with much laid by before July 4. The Gospel team visited the schoolhouse and the Whippoorwill was heard nearby, with another service planned for July 2.
