Central College plans two experimental orientation seminars for entering freshmen and their parents. The first targets Midwest students and will be held on campus Saturday June 27, with sessions led by Dean James Graham, Dean Ronald Schipper, and Dr. Harriet Heusinkveld. The second for Eastern students will occur August 16 at Warwick Estates, New York.
Day evening at the Carl Hor man home of Monroe. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Peery and son spent Thursday evening at the Paul Vos home.
FJH argues for a civil rights bill with non discrimination as the real goal while acknowledging enforcement. He warns against overbearing federal methods yet supports legal protection of minority rights and urges adherence to constitutional processes and peaceful change. He compares American rights to lesser freedoms under Communist regimes.

The author shares a memory of a kind helper guiding a boy to fish, illustrating the uplifting power of sincere praise, and ends with a wedding announcement for Judith Ann Brouwer and Stanley R. Van Hemert planned for August.
Ervie Cegers died Tuesday evening in Red Oak from drowning. Services were held Tuesday morning in Red Oak and in Sully, with burial at Palo Alto Cemetery south of Newton. He is survived by sisters Mrs. Ada Pope and Mrs. Elmer Van Hemert of Pella. An obituary will appear in a later Chronicle issue.
Pella Hi pulled ahead early to steamroll Monroe Hi 10-1 on June 23. Douwstra doubled in the sixth for Pella, while Rust drove in Monroe’s lone run with a fourth-inning RBI. Monroe’s line shows a 0-0-0-0-1-0-0-1-? score. Pella tallied six runs by the third inning.
A tornado damaged the Albert Van Donselaar farm about 242 miles southeast of Pella,flattening a building and injuring two others The Gerrit Van der Meiden farm suffered hits at 830 to 900 pm tearing down trees and fences and damaging a corn crib A roof section near a new smorgasbord building was torn and heavy rains caused flooding delaying a freight train near Pella A farm rainfall summary followed.
Henry Cox commends the City Band under Stanley Schleuter for a memorable concert on the nineteenth. He urges the community to support the band, recalling a bygone era of public musical gatherings and urging similar public encouragement.
United Federal Savings & Loan of Des Moines invites customers and friends to a casual coffee on Monday night at Central College Auditorium. Refreshments at 7:30 followed by James M. Camp presenting color wildlife pictures from Africa safari and a Q&A session with Camp and executive staff of Des Moines.
Mr and Mrs Ralph Huisman of 617 Elm Street will be honored by their children with an open house at the Holland House on Saturday June 27 from 2:00 to 5:00. Friends and neighbors are invited.
Mrs. Marie Kling and Mrs. Bertha Gumpert joined Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Kling for a Sunday visit with Mr. and Mrs. Archie Casebolt and family in Muscatine. Earlier, Mr. and Mrs. Ervie Striegler of Sigourney called on Mrs. Mamie Kling and Mrs. Bertha Gumpert.
