Soil conservation saves farms and floods via practices
In Soil Conservation Week, the text urges farmers and consumers to support soil preservation methods. It describes the role of the Soil Conservation Service and local districts in promoting terracing, grassed waterways, strip cropping, and watershed projects. By slowing runoff and promoting infiltration, these efforts protect fertility and reduce flood risk. The piece honors farmers already practicing conservation and calls others to join.
