Put Roosters on the Block
Iowa State College extension poultry market ing specialist A D Oderkirk says keeping roosters in the market crate eases summer egg quality. Fertile eggs germinate above 68 degrees, while lower egg quality costs farmers thousands. Rooster Days attract egg dealers to boost value and keep breeding males separate from laying flocks, with eggs cooled under 60 degrees after gathering until sale.
