Pella area farmers plow through wet spells for corn
Farmers across the East Prairie area hustled to plant corn as weather swung from wet to workable. In Leighton and vicinity crews used tractors and planters while noting stands, field conditions, and the progress of the De Prenger and Tysseling operations. A sight-filled day included children and locals posing by storefronts, with Cannery planting near Porterville and a push to finish by June 12th for Pella’s Massillon canning program.
