Pella Christian Eagles cap off historic baseball season
The Pella Christian Golden Eagles won the state sectional tournament and reached the state district finals. Pitching by Don Ver Meer and Sandy De Haan powered a 9-6 record. De Haan led with a .422 average and 12 RBIs, while Ver Meer posted five wins and 78 strikeouts.

Rotary defeated Kiwanis 13 to 1 with strong pitching from Ted Zylstra who allowed four hits and one run while fanning six. Bob Vande Voort Homered and drove in three for Rotary. Hiemstra added a double. Kiwanis' Joel Vande Voort allowed 11 hits and seven strikeouts. Rotarians and Kiwanis both prepared for upcoming games against Jaycees.

In a two team clash at the CUI diamond the Rockets defeated Otley 143 in six innings. Randy Vander Wert Larry Criss and Mike Harrison walked 13 Otley batters but held opponents to three hits. Earl Horman doubled for Otley and Vince Klyn tripled for the Rockets. Next games set June 7 and June 11 at CUI field with West End 66 and Bakker & Rus.
