Roger Rosendahl was valedictorian for the Lynnville Sully high school 1964 graduating class. He spoke briefly at commencement in Sully on Tuesday May 26. Other honorees included Darrrell Vander Kamp for Iowa Bar Association citizenship, Lorene Vander Weerdt and Jerry De Penning with the Danforth Award for leadership.
The Can-Shu-Wa Campfire girls group of eighth grade girls held a mothers tea and ceremony Tuesday May 26 at the Holland House. The leader Mrs. Robert Van Hemert awarded heads and certificates to the girls. Attending were Kim Busby Barbara Paul Beverly
Jane Morgan of Pella received a Bachelor of Arts degree and Lorraine Williams of New Sharon received a Bachelor of Science degree at commencement exercises held Monday at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant.
Bert Baron entertained P.E.O. members at the May 27 meeting with a clever display of past Pella history. He recalled landmarks including the Gezel Blacksmith Shop LeCocq Harness Shop Popma Variety Store and the old Wier son House with its crooked architecture along with other historic details.
Individuals Henry Worm houdt Charlie Dykstra and Dr. J. J. Sybenga attended a private event hosted by Exie Waechter Marie Lefeber and Cornelia Wilson. The gathering occurred at the latter hosts home where the group convened for discussion and social exchange.
Pvt. Lee E. Rempe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry G. Rempe of Leighton, finished basic training on April 24 at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. He is now at the Defense Language Institute West Coast to study Russian for 37 weeks at Presidio of Monterey California with RA 17677191.
