Debating the debt ceiling and federal spending
A 1960s op-ed weighs the 324 billion dollar debt ceiling rise, notes economists split on spending cuts versus increases, cites Sen Byrd and Sen Douglas on debt versus assets, and urges caution without overstating risk. It argues the debt's grow is tied to wartime obligations and economic context, not simple reckoning.

The piece uses examples across multiple states to argue the agency harms private enterprise and seeks higher appropriations.
