Famous Susquehanna Robbery Case by Pinkertons
A 1883 payroll theft near Susquehanna Pennsylvania saw forty thousand dollars seized from a railroad express. The investigation traced the loot to Susquehanna workers, then connected foreman George H Proctor to accomplices Donahue and Collins. Pinkerton detectives pursued, captured Proctor at Island Pond, and later helped convict Donahue and Proctor while Collins sought an uneasy escape.
