Hog prices soar above year ago highs in 1965
Prices for Top Butcher Hogs in the Pella market jumped sharply in the first half of 1965, reaching 24.25 cwt on June 21, about 9.25 above 1964. Parade prices followed, with steady gains and a late June decline. The surge surprised forecasters despite expectations of higher farrowings, and analysts projected continued volatility through summer and into autumn.
