The Pella Fourth of July festivities include a model airplane demonstration by Jaap Koes from 4 to 5 30 p m at Swimming Pool park and a Sully Merchants softball game at 8 p m. Fireworks follow under Flor Geurts direction. Two fishing contest divisions offer a $5 monthly cash prize.
Miss Marjorie Baron, Boulder High teacher and counselor, chosen group leader for the Experiment in International Living 1966 summer program to Great Britain. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Baron of the Pella Manor, Pella. The program involves about 2,000 youths ages 16 to 30, with four days of orientation in Brattleboro and aboard ships, then two months abroad living with host families and in field projects. Baron has prior international teaching and travel experience across Europe, including Scotland, Ireland, and Italy, with extensive trips to London and other countries.
The Chronicle begins its Annual Catch of the Month with phase one from July 1 to July and a second phase in August. Eligible fish must be caught by legal methods in Mahaska Marion and Jasper counties and weighed to determine winners, with prizes awarded by participating merchants.
The Dale Carnegie course in Pella will begin Tuesday evening July 12 in the Central College Student Union lower meeting room. Richard Bugler, area manager for the Chronicle sponsored program, says there are still openings. For information, contact the Chronicle at 628-3882.
