Aalbers Celebrate 25th Wedding Anniversary in Runnells
Mr. and Mrs. William Aalbers of Runnells Iowa marked their 25th wedding anniversary with neighbors and friends on Friday January 4 1952. The party featured flash bulb pictures games and a three tiered cake. Gifts remained plentiful and well wishes poured in from local residents. Relatives G O Head L J Peters Karl Herwehe Neal Jabaai Everett Rowenhorst Art Schuting a and others attended. Also announced was the engagement of Caroline Ebert twin daughter of G A Ebert Kellogg Iowa to S Sgt Mark O Vander Ploeg son of Diller Vander Ploeg of Pell a with no wedding date set. The January Scott U Need Us 4 H meeting was held at Nancy De Cook home on January 14 with Marilyn Hasselman in charge. Members discussed room colors mitre corners and dust cloth care and prepared for a future dads visit. Refreshments ending the meeting were served by Nancy De Cook assisted by her mother Mrs Ernest De Cook.

Iowa Deer Population Grows Despite Legal Controls
Tabulation of 1951 deer kill cards shows 192 deer killed across 66 Iowa counties, far fewer than 1960 figures. Automobiles accounted for most deaths at 122, with 37 illegally killed, 8 by dogs, and 25 in other accidents. Pottawattamie led with 19 kills, peak month was November with 51. Officials warn herd may reach 15,000 and urge legal controls as population rises over a third yearly.
