Bandstra seeks ban on packers feeding livestock
Iowa congressman Bert Bandstra introduces a bill to prohibit packers with over 1 million in annual sales from feeding livestock or owning processing or retail operations. The measure aims to keep markets open and competitive, preventing packer control over livestock flow and guaranteed pricing for farmers. Hearings are hoped within months as the bill targets packer feeding and contracts with farmers.
