Surprises for the Grandias and Neighbors Gather at Van Zee Farm
The Van Zee farm east of town hosted a noon party as about forty friends arrived with baskets for a feast. Neighbors blocked the owners from leaving to town, celebrating the Van Zee family moving away after Mr. Van Zee rented the farm. Delis remarks a man learns his standing only when he moves. Afternoon socializing, cake, coffee, and ice cream followed. Also noted are farm sale dates, a Farmers Shipping Association meeting about a Vander Zyl elevator, cooperative laws in three states, butter price declines, and a report of two surprise gatherings for J. A. Grandia and wife with neighbors sharing good eats and high prices at Ver Steeg’s sale.
