Wellman to Lead Pole Flight for Record Herald
The Chicago Record-Herald plans to send Walter Wellman to attempt a north pole airship voyage this summer. He will report by wireless to the Record-Herald regardless of success. Wellman, born in 1858 in Mentor Ohio, built a reputation as a daring reporter and explorer, with former trips reaching Franz Josef Land and Spitzbergen and aiding the American Geographical Society.
