An Iowa city urges courtesy on snow removal as residents are reminded their property owners must clear sidewalks within 12 hours after a snowfall. The piece notes elderly homeowners may struggle and city crews cannot shovel each walk, urging neighbors to help those unable.

In 1907 B Kersbergen aged 23 of Pella became the youngest county official in Iowa when sworn in as clerk of the district court, after the incumbent died shortly before the election. The death notice of Colonel Busby arrived from Wisconsin. Busby was a noted tramp printer, famed for begging only for a day's work.

A firsthand account recalls January 1945 as 2000 prisoners endure brutal cold and overcrowded box cars en route from Stalag Luft III to Moosburg, with two Pella boys among them. The journey lasts days, amid filth, hunger, and mistreatment before arrival at Stalag Luft VIIA Moosburg, Bavaria.
An accident at the Main and Liberty intersection in Pella involved a car driven by Kuiper and another driven by Donna Jo Kendall. Kuiper was charged with failure to yield right of way. both vehicles sustained about $200 in damage.
