Piano Contest a Success in Local Voting Event
The Chronicle's piano contest closed Friday at 4 PM after a day of heavy voting. Judges counted ballots by evening and awarded prizes to both in town and out of town contestants including Lombard pianos, diamond rings, dinner sets, and purchasing certificates with values from 100 to 450 dollars.

The Baptist church held its annual meeting on Monday night with a banquet served by church Indies in the dining hall. About 200 members attended as officers were elected for the coming year and reports showed the church in good financial standing with funds in the treasury and active benevolent giving noted.

YMCA Directors Election And Mock Trial
A YMCA notice calls for a directors election next Monday at 7 30 PM in the rooms all members urged to attend. December nineteen ten library report shows 2446 books issued and 26 days open to issue. Average daily circulation is 94 with a peak of 218 and a low of 49. Adult fiction makes up 33 percent. Repaired books total 110 and new readers registered 63. Fines on overdue books amount to 10 dollars 80 cents and charges from non residents are 2 dollars 75 cents, total 13 dollars 55 cents. Unlucky Thomas Mann Breaks Arm After Horse Fall
Master Thomas Mann fell from a horse last Sunday and broke an arm. This marks the second time in six months he required a surgeon to mend his baseball pitcher’s arm. Previously a cherry tree incident caused harm.

Hand of Death Claims Pella Area Woman at 56
Mrs. Van Houweling of the Pella vicinity died at home after a heart neuralgia attack Monday afternoon. She suffered onset about one o'clock and died three hours later, leaving a husband and two adopted children. Funeral held at First Reformed church led by Rev. Vander Werf. Lena Olivier, 34, also mourned with service at the same church this afternoon.
