Harold Karr and Clark aid NFA setup in Boone show

Harold Karr and G T Clark traveled to Boone on Wednesday night to help organize five or six counties in the N F A Their group will be featured on Edward R Murrow s TV show. Wedding plans for Paul Karr and Janie Sweisco set for Sunday January 29 at 2 00 p m at Presby terian Church in Manilla Iowa They will reside in Perry Iowa. Clarence and Hazel Bricker left for California to help drive two young ladies who plan to live there.

Iowa Central Exchange Club meets at Moore home

The Iowa Central Exchange Club held its regular meeting at Mrs. Wayne Moore’s home with Mrs. Walter Tharp as co-hostess. Members answered roll call with a poem, discussed the coming year schedule, and organized secret pals. A gift exchange for children and grab bag for women were featured. Prizes went to Mrs. Charles Dunn and Mrs. Bob Gosselink.

Livestock market prices from packers to lambs and ewes

The report lists cattle, hogs, calves, shoats, boars, lambs and ewes with sale ranges. Cattle include packer cows up to 12.90 ewt and bulls to breeders, steers and heifers with varied weights and per hundred prices. Hogs show roaster and shoat prices, boars and sows noted, while lambs and ewes close the day with per head and per cwt figures.

Elders and deacons installed at First Christian Reformed Church

Van Wyk and Ronnie dined with J. G. Newenhouse family as C. Louwama and Bernard Meinders were inducted as elders and Walter Plate and Laurens Van Wyk as deacons during Sunday morning service. Christmas guests at the De Groot home included Rev. J. D. Pikaart and wife from Oskaloosa, W. F. Williams family from Chariton, Claude Pikaart family from Michigan, and Myron Huyser of Sully.

Many families shared meals and visits during Christmas Week across Monroe and neighboring towns. James Runcie of LeMars was seriously hurt when he fell thirty feet while working on an old REA line. He slipped from a platform suspended from the end of a boom.
