Ask State to Provide Transport for Non-Public School Children
Petitions circulated across Iowa urge Governor elect Harold Hughes to push the 60th General Assembly to revise Chapter 285 of the 1962 Code. Citizens for Educational Freedom seek state support for transportation costs for all resident pupils in public and accredited independent schools from kindergarten through 12th grade within current distance limits, arguing police powers justify such provision for child welfare and compulsory education.
