February Guide for Wildlife Feeders and Birds
February is noted as crucial for game birds with heavy snow possible and natural food scarce. Prepare by ensuring birds receive good food to raise healthy broods and guard against starvation. About ten percent of feed should be in the gizzard aiding digestion.
Plow and Plant With Game Birds in Mind
February urges farmers to include game birds in crops and nesting cover. Leave odd corners to grow, avoid burning fence rows, and plant grain near clover to supply birds. Obtain the game management manual from the fish and game department and apply its guidance. If you see good in others, others will see it in you.
