Sulfur dust controls potato insects in Iowa study
Iowa State College researchers report sulfur dust, mixed from 100 pounds of 326 mesh sulfur and 8 pounds calcium arsenate, as effective as Bordeaux mixture against potato pests. Applied at 25 pounds per acre with dew and standing air, it costs about $1.20 per acre per dusting and should be repeated every 10 to 12 days, aiding small growers facing potato leafhopper, leaf beetle, and Colorado potato beetle.
