Private Lillian Crum of Bella, Iowa, daughter of Mr. Henman Crum, finished boot training at Camp Lejeune New River area. She completed subjects including military courtesy, Marine Corps history, close order drill, chemical warfare, and map reading. Her first assignment will be at the Marine Corps Base in San Francisco California.
Gerald Stravers, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Stravers of Reasner, was selected for enlistment in the Army Air Forces Reserve by the Des Moines Aviation Cadet Examining Board. He is a high school senior and qualified for future training as an aviation cadet.
