Don Poortinga hosted coffee and donuts for the Pitch Club birthday celebration. Adult basketball games in the Pella Municipal League were postponed to January 2 at the high school gym. Recreation Center closes Monday December 23 for Christmas. A community Christmas party for high school students is set for December 29 with a film and refreshments including hamburgers and soda.

Nursery School Christmas Program Draws Parents
Recreation Center hosted a two day Christmas program for nursery children with parents attending as guests. Children enrolled in the school performed and highlighted the holiday activities and songs.
Templetons furnish central Christmas tree for Central College
James and Mrs. Templeton, longtime Central College supporters, again donate a towering Christmas tree for the dining hall. The Knoxville couple have supplied trees for the dorms for four years and are linked to Central through E. B. Ruckman. Their daughter Mary is a Central alumna, class of 1959. An Independence lodge member, WoL Gray, received a jeweled pin for 60 years of Odd Fellows membership.

Pella Construction Remains Unbeaten in City League
Pella Construction beat Pella National Bank to extend their three game win streak and stay undefeated in the City Basketball League. Van's Supermarket defeated Rolscreen to hand them their first loss. Sully beat Vermeer Mfg 57-38 as Harlan Sterk scored 27 for Sully and Gerald Kloostra led Vermeer with 12. Van's pace then defeated Rolscreen 57-42 led by Denny Pace with 18, Bob Conway 14, Stan Klyn 11, while Rolscreen’s Gary Wallace had 18. Pella Construction topped Pella National Bank 45-25 with Paul Dingeman scoring 16. Ed Bowers and Ken Rown added 6 each. Games postponed to January 8 due to field school Christmas musical.

Little Dutch honor football lettermen at banquet
Pella high school honored its football players at the Little Dutch banquet in the Second Reformed church parlors. Don Kolsrud presented letters and announced honors, naming Roger Palmquist co captain for next year and Bob Rempe as honorary co captain.
