Farmers Tax Deadlines Moved to January Fifteenth
The new tax law lets farmers wait until January 15 of the following year to file if at least two thirds of their gross income comes from farming. Those able may submit final returns then, avoiding the estimated payment step. Minor children’s earnings now count toward a child’s gross income, forcing children with more than $500 gross to file or have a parent file for them. A short form is available for those with adjusted gross income under $5,000.
