Weekly Visit With Chronicle Subscribers L. M. VAN ZANTE
A Chronicle feature visits L. M. Van Zante on his 140 acre Iowa farm near Pella and recounts hay and corn yields, family, and memories. The piece notes Van Zante age 75, his time on the farm since childhood, and his Dutch-American ties, along with neighbors the Dykstra and De Wild families and their 100 and 120 acre holdings. It closes with reflections on religious lessons and daily life on rural routes before winter.
