C V Gregory emphasizes silage as the most economical winter feed, noting 10 to 13 tons of green feed per acre when made into silage. He outlines silo types including stave and concrete, placement near the barn, airtight doors, and construction tips to prevent spoilage and ensure steady milk yields and overall herd health.
The guide covers foundation materials and thickness for silos, soil conditions, floor needs, and wall alignment. It explains sizing by depth rather than diameter, notes that deeper silos retain silage better, and recommends a plan to feed two inches daily. It gives typical dimensions for a quarter section and cites a table from bulletin 100. It also describes a wind elevator, canvas tube, thorough trampling, and top coverage with air tight vats to prevent spoilage.
State Fish and Game Warden George A. Lincoln seined Lake Pelican near Ruthven Iowa preparing to stock it with game fish. A catch of 96 000 pounds of carp bull heads and catfish was hauled ashore. The game fish were returned to the lake while two carloads of carp and other fish were shipped to Mississippi river canneries. Several thousand game fish fry will be stocked.
An old saying links a sound stomach to overall health and warns against chronic indigestion. The piece promotes Dr Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin as a gentle laxative tonic, listing testimonials and urging readers to request a free trial before buying a bottle from a druggist. It also argues against unequal justice for rich and poor in criminal trials.
Health depends as nature shows on purity within the body. The interior system benefits from filtering impurities, a claim tied to Hollister's Rocky Mountain Tea advertised by F. D. Stusenrauch.
