Pella Folks in Auto Accident Near Lexington Neb
Near Lexington Nebraska last Monday, Mr and Mrs John Boerefijn returning from a Colorado honeymoon were in a crash. Mrs Franje, John’s mother, broke her left arm. Mrs Boerefijn suffered three broken foot bones plus scratches and bruises. John sustained a badly bruised knee. Peter Boerefijn escaped with minor injuries. A passing car struck the Boerefijn vehicle causing it to leave the road and hit a bridge railing, badly damaging the car.

Fire Destroys Barn on Emmett Awtry Farm
Fire at the Emmett Awtry farm five miles north of town on Route 2 destroyed a barn and 40 tons of hay with about 2000 dollars total loss. Mrs J Riemersma and her daughter Anna discovered the blaze Saturday at about 10 30 am and neighbors fought to save the house but the barn burned out of control. The house caught fire several times but was saved. the property was uninsured.

Old Settlers Hold Forth At Prairie City
Prairie City hosted an Old Settlers program with an estimated fifteen hundred attendees. The Dayton-like lineup featured Valley Junction drum and bugle corps, Monroe young settlers, colored and Dutch acts, a Prairie City kittenball diamond drill, and a Prairie City band with Paschal trio. The event closed with a charity ball game, Monroe All Stars defeating Prairie City All Stars.
