M van Gorp died at his Otley home last Monday evening of dropsy after a short illness. He was 52 and well known in Pella as PH van Gorp’s brother. He suffered asthma for years but was improving when stricken. Funeral at Reformed church Otley at 10 today, burial in the local cemetery. He leaves a wife and family and many friends.
Miss Caroline Bousquet of Pella Iowa announces she will go south to teach illiterate whites, turning down college offers. A Grinnell Iowa College and Bryn Mawr graduate, she has her own funds and is daughter of P H Bousquet, a wealthy figure. The move is viewed as noble by local society.
