Cattle and Hog Market Reports Show Strong Prices and Steady Demand
Last week 4929 cattle receipts total 71,000 head including 10,000 calves with heaviest run this year. Market strong for good fed grades. high prices for best steers. Pasture cattle steady, some weakness in mid grades. Calves up 25 to 30 cents. suckers and feeders near steady. Today’s run 22,009 head. best steers steady, mid and low grades weaker. feeders steady. Prize Greenwood County steers sold 760 to 800. heavy fed steers 725, wintered steers 675, grass steers 4.25 to 5.75. bulls 289 to 335. calves 406 to 725. Feeder sale: eight loads dehorned white faces 1134 lb at 5.25. Low grade stockers more common, 275 to 350. stock steers 325 to 425. stock cows/heifers 235 to 350. Hog supplies near last year but below month’s peak. run 5000 today, prices 5 to 10 cents higher, mids 770 to 790, lights 760 to 790. Sheep and lambs down 15 to 25 cents due to range lamb oversupply. run 4000, market strong. Utah lambs top at 7.60. natives weaker 25 to 35 cents under prime. Wethers/yearlings to 5.15. ewes 4.85. Demand for feeding stock strong. yearlings 5.10. lambs about 5.85. ewes 4.00 to 4.75.
