Farmers Picnic at Pella Ends in Cold Showers
The Pella Farm Bureau summer picnic faced a chilly day with intermittent rain but drew a good crowd from town. Speaker Jacob De Haan opened the event, followed by vice president Henry Huntley who advocated Farm Bureau influence in legislation and cooperative marketing. Games, including a cow calling contest won by Mrs. G. W. Ryke, a pie-eating contest, and tug of war bouts provided entertainment as the program shifted to the Grandman farm grounds two miles north of town.
