A Chicken Story From Alpha Minn To Pella Beat Thist
A letter from L Colyn of Alpha Minnesota recounts a remarkable tale. Mrs N P George born in New Hampshire now 76 and living in Alpha hatched eight chicks after a hen sat on fifteen eyes on Jan 1 1913 and a second hen laid twelve chicks after hatching twelve on Aug 11 1913. The note playfully bets Pella can’t top this poultry record. The item ends by inviting readers to share stronger stories as drought dampens corn husking yarns and suggesting the Southwest Iowa Cornhuskinglars Association weigh in to outdo Minnesota.
