Ten years ago Richard N Glendening joined Central college as assistant professor of economics and was noted as son of the Howard Glendenings of Leighton. Loren Kuiper of Pella led the Marion county fair swine show. Wanlop Chandarasiri of Thailand planned to be an exchange student at Pella high living with the Dick Van Zantes.
A 1946 group portrait shows Pella's Boy Scout troop 371 with scoutmaster Harold Nehre at Burkhart Studio. Nehre, who arrived in 1942 to lead Pella junior high, organized hikes to Lake Keomah and Red Rock, trips to Camp Mitigwa, and merit badge testing, aided by Bob Brittell and local boosters.
