Iowa Residents May Obtain Proof Of Age From Census Bureau
Iowa residents can obtain proof of age or birthplace from the Census Bureau. About 700 Iowa residents used the Census to verify age for social security and other benefits last year, part of an estimated 20 million Americans without proof. The bureau provides records to about 3.5 million people for age birth citizenship or kinship, with fees for searches and copies. Expedited searches are faster, routine searches may take up to 30 days. Records are confidential by law and released only to the person involved or a proper representative. The text notes the U S is the world's largest exporter of farm products with 1961 62 exports enough to fill over one million freight cars or 4 500 cargo ships.
