Pre-school Institute Plan For Pella Teachers In 1964

A one day pre school institute is set for August at Pella High School for local teachers as part of a new rotation replacing Marion County Institute. A two day workshop follows focusing on opening school August 31 with Drake University speakers on teaching machines and reading, plus sessions on arithmetic and a Friday bus tour for new faculty.

Good-Year Tire Manager Chuck Wichmann to Dubuque

John and Marlene Wichmann live in Pella with four children Linda Kay Nancy Anne John Jr. and Connie. Chuck Wichmann, Pella Implement Store Good-Year Tire Manager, has accepted a position as Dubuque Commercial Tire Sales Manager, covering parts of Iowa Illinois and Wisconsin. He plans to move with his family to Dubuque by September 1. He helped install the Good Year Tire Department at the Pella Implement Store a little over a year ago.

Twin Calves Born On Same Day On Dallas Farm

On July 12 at Clif ford Butrum farm near Dallas two pairs of twin calves were born from Holstein cows. The cows were a mother and daughter aged 11 and 7 years, both sets delivered the same day in an unusual farmyard event.

4-H Exhibits At Southern Iowa Fair Collection and Construction

Four-H members displayed projects at the Southern Iowa fair last week. Agronomy entries include Jim Osweiler with two corn exhibits one bean and one oat exhibit, Calvin Rozenboom corn, Norman Rozenboom corn, Mark Van Gilst corn, Craig Willemsen oat plot variety for Black Oak and Scott, Phil Bloem oat plot varieties. Tree Identification features Bruce Van Dorin with a tree identification notebook. Woodworking shows Bruce and Van Roekel with two saw horses.

Winners listed in 4-H FFA division at Southern Iowa Fair

Carol Eveland displayed the top Produce of a former 4H and FFA beef heifer in the Angus Produce class. Steven Leitsinger exhibited the top Shorthorn produce calf. No entries were made in the Hereford division. The division was open to purebred registered beef heifers born to dams enrolled in the 4H Beef Female Project and sired by a registered bull of the same breed.
