Legume Failure Drives Renovation of Pastures Project
E S Dyas agronomist at Town State College notes legume seed failures raise the need to renovate bluegrass pastures. Proper liming now aids soil balance and fall plowing. shallow plowing or contour disking helps lime incorporation and sod disturbance. When adding bromegrass, fall plowing slows bluegrass, while sowing blends with clover or alfalfa in August or September supports next year’s grazing. red and alsike clover require moisture.
