Gold Star Post No 89 Elects New Commander
The Gold Star Post No 89 American Legion meeting lacked a commanding officer after Dave De Cook’s move to Des Moines. M. D. McWilliams presided as ballots produced Harry De Reus, though a constitutional clause barred him due to public office pursuit. After a repeat vote, Harry won, succeeding his brother, with George Lankelma appointed Post Historian. Memorial Day observance plans were set with GA R cooperation as a priority. The Post aims to form a Women’s Auxiliary and to compile a full military history questionnaire for members.
