Colo Man Dies in Highway 163 Crash
William Wood, 22, of Colo, was killed at 6:30 AM Wednesday three miles south of Monroe on Highway 168. He stood on the pavement as a car driven by R W Moore, who had no hands, struck him. Moore says he was blinded by a bright oncoming truck light and did not see Wood until impact.

Four Hurt In City Auto Crash Involving Cummings Family
An evening collision at Union and East First street left four people injured, including Mrs Eva Cummings 82, her son Amos Cummings and daughter-in-law Della Schultze Cummings of Oskaloosa, and Frank Eling of the local city. Mrs Cummings and Mrs Schultze were unconscious for an hour. Both cars suffered extensive damage and required repairs. The injured were treated at a local physician’s office and at the Wormhoudt residence before ambulances carried them to Oskaloosa for further care.
