Legion Boys Enjoy Glee Club At Post Meeting
The April meeting of Van Veen Van Hemert Post and The American Legion drew the largest attendance in months as a membership drive adds 127 in good standing. Central College glee clubs entertained the crowd, with Miss June Stureman reading selections. Memorial Day plans were set, noting Saturday observances and possible changes to ceremonies. Volney Diltz, world war veteran and former Polk County legislator, was slated to speak. The Auxiliary served refreshments after the program, with a late-night social leaving some guests still awake and joking about the fun. The class of ’25 monograms remained a proud symbol of the era.
