The Community Service Award is one of the greatest honors a Pella person may experience, earned not by desire but by the community’s approval. A panel from various Pella service organizations narrows nominees to one, reflecting service across the town, with a banquet Monday urging broad attendance to uphold local tradition and quality.
The Pella Chronicle was named one of the top weekly newspapers in Iowa for community service. The honor cites coverage of three projects including telephone service improvement, a $3 million hospital expansion plan, and ongoing progress on the city's Comprehensive Plan.
