Modern Dairy Pioneer and Dutch Family Farm Tour
A weekly Chronicle visit profiles Andrew Lubbers and Clover Leaf Dairy with 130 to 140 customers and plans for a new dairy building in town. The Roorda family on a 160 acre farm near Pella is featured along with Gerrit Van Haalen and Andrew W van Houweling families. The piece recalls a 1847 log cabin, pioneer life, and modern sanitation and pasteurization efforts amid farm downturns and optimistic views on progress.
